Miette Hot Springs
Miette Hot Springs is one of the triumvirate of Rocky Mountain thermal springs found in Canada’s National Parks. About an hour from the Jasper townsite, this spectacular drive – some may say “hair raising” – is an adventure in and of itself. Once you make it to the hot pool you will understand perfectly well why Miette Hot Springs is not open during the winter. Do not let the nature of the drive dissuade you from making the trip as you will be amply rewarded once you slip into those soothing, naturally-heated waters from deep underground.
Unlike its famous sister to the south – Banff Upper Hot Springs – the flow of 800 liters of hot water each minute from the source at Miette ensures that it does not suffer from seasonal fluctuations. The mineral rich smell of the hot springs is testament to the fact that this is all-natural water heated geo-thermally from deep within the earth.
If you are a regular visitor to Banff, Jasper and Radium National Parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains you really should consider purchasing an annual pass. This pass will allow you unlimited soaks in Miette Hot Springs, Banff Upper Hot Springs and Radium Hot Springs. It is a true bargain in this day and age for the avid soaker. The annual pass will pay for itself if you visit one of the hot springs twice each month.
Regardless if you will only be visiting once on your way through the park or if you will be visiting frequently throughout the summer, Miette Hot Springs will be sure to take your breath away.
